Napa in the ’80s was a small town when William relocated from the east bay. Like many teens in the valley, he was naturally drawn to the wine industry. Working on bottling lines and tasting rooms through high school he cultivated a love for the wine industry. He found himself at the grand estate of Niebaum-Coppola and there he began the vast education that would shape his career. From wine educator to inventory coordinator, he immersed himself in every job, learning the nuances of the wine industry, but it was customer service and hospitality that would ultimately draw his focus. Honing his training for 3 years he found himself at Cakebread Cellars, embarking on a new venture, wine tours. Cakebread was his home for 8 years affording him the opportunity to learn about wine clubs, guest services and hone his high-level customer service skills.
As time moved on William became the father to two sons and found himself dividing his time between customer service and family. Looking for a place where he could balance the two, he began working with his in-laws at their winery in the hills of Lake County. Bringing his invaluable experience he contributed to all areas of the winery and extending his knowledge as he tended to 7 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and hosting tastings in the converted garage winery. All of this wine education and 20 plus years in the wine industry made him invaluable when helping The Stewart family launch and manage their tasting room in Yountville Ca.
